The Department of Health and Family Welfare of the Indian Government established the Food Standards and Safety Authority of India (FSSAI) to act as the principal body in charge of policing and regulating food safety.
For all organisations engaged in the manufacture, processing, packaging, or distribution of food, central FSSAI Registration has been necessary. In addition to merely acquiring this registration, commercial entities must also print the 14-digit Foscos registration or licence number on all food products.
The central licence is required for owners of food businesses who operate in various states and are subject to Schedule 1 of the FSSAI regulations from 2011. Additionally, FBOS needs to generate at least 20 crores in income annually to qualify for a central FSSAI licence. If a food business's annual sales reaches 20 crores, the proprietor must submit Central License Form B.
All food industry business owners must register with the FSSAI in order to comply with the requirements of the central licence, which include having a revenue of more than 20 crore, being an importer or exporter, or having operations in several locations.
Before their validity expires, they must also renew their Central food licence. The validity period for the Central FSSAI licence is varied and ranges from 1 to 5 years. Depending on the length of validity, the license's price would rise.
In the event that there is a future non-compliance problem, it offers legal stability that is otherwise lacking in unregistered competitors.
It creates high brand awareness among the target end-users and the general public and also assists in improving the creditability of the firm.
Customer safety in regard to food establishments that have authorization and whose owners are required to guarantee food safety.

Proof of possession of the Company premises is also necessary, and include utility bills, a NOC from the landlord of the rented space, a leasing agreement, etc.
A NOC from the municipality or panchayat, a NOC from the health department, etc., as well as other supporting documents, including a copy of the manufacturer's license, are also required.
Certificate of business constitution, such as a partnership deed, certificate of incorporation proof, a license for a store or other establishment, or another certificate of business registration are also required.
List of the directors, partners, and proprietors, along with their addresses, phone numbers, and IDs are also required.
The applicant must present a certificate or safety food management system.
